Buenos Aires – Part I

Buenos Aires is one of the most beautiful cities in South America. It is the capital and largest city of Argentina.

It is located between the Eastern part and the North-east coast of the Rio de La Plata.

The city was established in 1536 by the Spanish conqueror Pedro de Mendoza with the name of “Santa Maria de los Buenos Aires” or “Holly Mary of Fair Winds”. This name was changed to “Ciudad de la Santisima Trinidad y Puerto de Santa Maria del Buen Aire” in 1580 by Juan de Garay. The short form “Buenos Aires” became used during the 17th century.

Buenos Aires is the second-largest metropolitan area in South America with more than 3 million people.
